Super Bride

10 Reasons Why I Am Not Super Bride:

1.) I am not looking forward to my reception.
2.) We have not made any honeymoon reservations.
3.) I have not reserved hotel blocks for guests.
4.) I was going to make my invitations...now I'm not.
5.) I dreaded wedding dress shopping. (My mistake: it wasn't too bad actually)
6.) I still don't have a complete guest list compiled.
7.) None of my wedding party knows what's going on.
8.) I constantly, constantly, constantly change my mind.
9.) I've quit squealing over tiny wedding details.
10.) I do not know what our favors will be.

Housing Scramble Saga: Pt. II

Uncertain living situations have been the tune of my life since August. Upon my first few days of being back in the US last August (having spent a hard seven weeks in the Middle East) I drove from my home in Missouri to my other home in Kentucky only to find that my scummy landlord was raising our rent! Not to mention the fact that he never made any of the repairs that we requested over the summer (three months not long enough?) the rent was waaaaay more than any of us could afford.

After a few moments of hyperventilating, I put my bold face on and told him I thought it best if we just parted ways...having no place to go in the mean time. Here are some fun moving pictures, just because:

(have i mentioned that I have awesome friends who helped me move?)

Enter Arbor Lane; a last minute decision that I think I've sort of regretted making. Nonetheless we moved in, hole in the bathroom ceiling and all. Jen and I have since faced things needing fixing (like out HEAT!) and a landlord who won't answer their cell phone and outrageous rent in comparison to other houses in our neighborhood.

Two days ago we got tired of it.

Yesterday, we wrote out our 30 day's notice.

As of today, we still have no place to live.

Life's funny isn't it? In this situation I have no one to lean on except the Lord and his provision. It says in Psalms that he opens his hand and satisfies the desires of every living things. Thank you LORD for that promise. I know that I already have a yes in you.

Now, I shall go pack boxes and wait...

Eddie Eagle and Gun Safety

Today at work we had a speaker come in and talk about gun safety. We watched a little animated film about Eddie the Eagle and his concern for small children playing with guns. (See video here.)

In the video is a little song and dance to help kids remember what to do if they ever come across a gun. It goes like this: "Stop!" "Don't touch!" "Leave the area!" "Tell an adult!"

After the speaker, many of my kids were still singing the little song. One little girl came up with her own rendition: "Stop!" "Don't touch!" "Teeeellllll a grownup!" ("Tell" drawn out for emphasis and to make up for the words she knew she was forgetting.)

Upon hearing this, another little boy, obviously thrown for a loop by his comrade's three-year old slurred speech tried to mimic her new rendition with this: "Stop!" "Don't touch!" "Teeeellllll a doughnut!"

Grownup...doughnut... I'm pretty sure he never figured out exactly what it was he said to make Miss Emily laugh that hard!

Homelessness

Here is some fresh inspiration that I got while writing a paper about homelessness yesterday. I've been in a song writer's rut of sorts lately. This sing is everything but complete, but here's what I've managed to pen so far:

like a child separated from the one thing she knows
in a shopping mall of strangers and discount price clothes
i am crying and going from mother to mother
in search of the one that first gave me my life

and maybe that angel is blocking my view
my front door to home again obscured by an angel
in white and gold and flying and singing to you
but if i touch that robe again i know that i'm gonna be ok

but what do i have on an angel that's singing anyway?

Perfect Combination

Just a short post to alert everyone on how quirky I truly am. For the past year I have been on a constant search for the perfect combination of liquid laundry detergent and fabric softener. I have tried everything, from the really expensive brands to the off brands and I am happy to say that I have found my perfect combination.

Before I share my secret, some may ask w
hat qualifies a perfect combination. Answer: how do the clothes smell after being washed and dried. Many combinations tend to lose their freshly washed scent after a while, but no more! Here is my newest discovery:

I mean really...I know I'm a loser. Just humor me. I have been very sick today. :)

Health Hazard

Since about 1:30 am i have been a walking health hazard. To spare everyone the gory details, we will just say that I have been extremely ill these past 13 hours and what's worse: Dusty has fallen victim too.

So if anyone has been around me lately, wash your hands and say your prayers. You could be next!
