FAIL.

So as many of you know, the job hunt is ON. This evening I received my first response from an employer and I thought I'd announce it to everyone:

[ahem]

"Thank you for your interest in the position of Teller-PT/20hrs-Elizabethtown, KY (Mulberry) at JPMorgan Chase. After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for this position"

Fail.

What this tells me is: "We're sorry. Even though you are a college graduate, you don't have any experience and therefore can't handle being trained to work 20 hours a week as a bank teller."

I am determined to say one good thing about each rejection that I get so here it is: This is one of the first jobs that I applied for, and I applied online which I hate because you don't get that first time one-on-one interaction. So this gives me a little more hope that online applications actually do work. Even if it's the opposite of what I hoped for.

Oh who am I kidding?! I can't even balance my own stinking checkbook...

Today I applied for three more positions. Let's see what they yield. Until then, I'm hiding my debit and credit cards.

Well I would like to say something about this so called failure... 1. I think you are fully capable of doing this job if you put your mind to it! 2. At least the employer contacted you about not getting the job... so far we have heard nothing.
3. Don't be discouraged your friends in western ky have been searching for job since october and well... still nothing!

You didn't want to work for them anyway.

Hey! At least you got a response. Josh got an interview from them and then they said they would let him know. ... Three months later ...

Oh yeah, one other tip to consider.

If you are going to apply for a job at a company where someone you know works, it might be a good idea to let that person know ahead of time. You see, some companies give a referral bonus if an employee refers someone and they are later hired. And if that person loves you they may even share that referral bonus with you.

Just a thought. ;-)
